Hopefully one day soon this country will follow the path of many other advanced and civilized countries. One day we will finally have a ban on the death penalty.
There are people in our country who have perpetrated horrific and evil acts, and some of them may even be evil to the core. These people should be punished and locked away from society for a long time. Many of them may need to be locked up until God takes their lives away, but we do not have the right to kill someone else in the name of justice.
It need not be mentioned that our justice system is flawed, and the thought of executing one innocent man or woman is enough to chill one to the bones. The State should not be killing its own citizens, and one day the people of this nation will raise their voices together and demand the abolition of the death penalty.
